Deconstructing The Avengers Trailer

It’s the day comic book fans across the globe have been waiting for. Today Marvel released their first full-length trailer for The Avengers movie due next year. Offering our first glimpse of Mark Ruffalo as The Hulk, the trailer certainly did not disappoint. Not much was revealed though, confirming that this is more of a teaser to keep fans satisfied for the time being. What we can do though, is speculate about the movie from what we’ve seen so far.

1) Joss Whedon is certainly keeping the team’s main threat under wraps for now:

During the trailer we saw gigantic expositions destroying cars and streets, as well as military forces preparing for what seemed like an attack from above. Could it be Skrulls? Could it be the Kree? Either way I have to give Whedon credit for not giving everything away too soon. We know Loki is the mastermind behind everything, what else he’s using remains a mystery.

2) Tony Stark takes the spotlight:

We saw a lot of Tony during the trailer. Whilst that’s certainly not a bad thing, it does however look like he will have a bigger part than most. Providing the film doesn’t suffer from X-Men syndrome, where other characters were ignored in favour of Wolverine, I’m happy for Tony to take the spotlight.

3) There is conflict between Steve and Tony:

One of the best moments in the trailer was watching Steve and Tony stand face to face. It’s great to see the dynamic between the characters taken from the comics. Credit to RDJ, who made the scene his own with an excellent response to Steve’s questioning. If they can provide this kind of character dynamic throughout the film, it could end up being one of the best comic book movies of all time.

4) The team has problems:

One of the more interesting moments was watching Thor attack Captain America in the forest. Given that Steve was in his new outfit, it would suggest Thor is either a late addition to the Avengers team, or perhaps Loki’s manipulation is what’s putting Thor against Cap. I’m presuming Loki’s voiceover at the beginning of the trailer was taken from a scene with him and The Hulk, plus Loki seemed to bother Black Widow when he walked past in captivity, so I expect Thor’s brother will be manipulating with the minds of all the heroes during the film.

What Not to Do When Learning Guitar

When it comes to learning how to play the acoustic guitar, most people are so excited and want to know what they should do, most do not take the time think about what they should not do. Like any other activity in life, there are obviously things that should be done, and things that should not be done. Here are a few pointers for the beginners.

First, never try and learn a song that is out of your skill level. I have some humbling news for you, you are not Jimmy Page right out of the gate, so stop trying to play Stairway to Heaven right away. Often times this just leads to feeling like you cannot do it and most give up. Instead learn easy songs that are basic. Songs that contain easy notes and chord transitions are the way to go. Your acoustic guitar instructor should be able to offer a few suggestions based on your skill level.

That leads to another point. A guitar teacher is better than learning on your own. Yes it can be done and yes a lot of guitar legends have taught themselves. But most great guitar players took instruction from someone else at some point in time. It is just an easier way of learning and will help you in the long run to avoid pitfalls and bad habits. Do not teach yourself. Instead find a good acoustic guitar teacher and let him or her show you the ropes in the beginning.

Another thing I have learned, and yet is still debatable for beginner guitar players, is to not start writing your own music before learning songs that you like and songs that are popular. What I mean by this is, just because you know a few chords, it may not be the best idea for a beginner to just jump in and start crafting their own songs. Instead learn a lot, and I mean a lot, of songs that you like or perhaps hear on the radio. This will give you a sense of timing and help you learn how to make chord and note transitions that you may not have thought of. This will both help you in learning all the chords and getting comfortable with them as well has perhaps show you some cool stuff you can use in future music writing ventures.

Photo Restoration Shows

Find a venue. To display your photo repair skills the first task is finding a venue. There are many arts and crafts fairs and festivals throughout the year. Simply search your area on the Internet and see what comes up. Ask some questions and see if there are any other photo repair businesses booked in at the event and if not, book yourself in! It is a good idea to pick a relevant fair though. One dedicated to beer might not be the best one to choose. Try and pick a book fair like an antiques fair, one with postcards, or art, or crafts, perhaps scrap booking or genealogy or history.

Decide on your stall before you go though, you may require a corner table or one against a wall. If you choose a center table then it’s a good idea to have some free standing display boards to display your work.

What to display. You should think very hard about what you are going to display. If you live in an area where floods are a very present risk then displaying your examples of repaired flood damaged photos would obviously be a good starting point. You could have boards mounted with work showing your before and after examples. Get some books printed up and have those on display with as many of your best examples, showing off your photo restoration skills to their fullest. If you have a laptop, book a stall with power so you can run it all day showing a slide show presentation of your skills.

What to take. If you are traveling alone then go light and do not take too much equipment. If you are going with someone else then this means you can lay out a stand with much information and gadgets as you like with no fear of them going missing.

Before your arrive check if they they show hosts provide tables, chairs and table covers, power and refreshments. If not you will need to add them to the list below.

You will need to bring:

Horoscopes Junkies: Top Ten Signs You Might Be One of Them

Wait, let me guess. You can’t leave the house yet because you haven’t checked your horoscope for the day on that one last website that you usually check. You gotta check that before you leave. Your day won’t be the same without it! That brings us to why you are here. Here is a checklist of the top ten signs that you are one of those horoscopes junkies!

10. You have at least 25 daily horoscope websites bookmarked under your “favorites.” This does not include all the ones that you have bookmarked for weekly, monthly, and yearly horoscopes (yeah, I’m talking to YOU). You really just want to make sure you have all the bases covered and don’t miss a thing!

9. You have stayed home at least once in the past 6 months because your horoscope said you should “stay close to home today.” When explaining why you couldn’t go in to work that day you told your boss you had a “personal emergency.”

8. You are seriously considering starting a 12 step program for others like yourself who leave no horoscope stone unturned. You figure since everyone keeps telling you to find a program, you should just start your own.

7. You feel the innate need to text other people their daily horoscope just because you think that they “need to know!” When they complain about getting too much information, you feel hurt and silently swear to yourself that if they don’t care about their life, then you don’t either!

6. You left the house to go to the store. Halfway there you feel like you forgot something important. You have your keys and your wallet and you are dressed and have shoes on. Oh! Wait! You forgot to check your horoscope before leaving!

5. When you ask someone what sign they are, it’s not a pickup line. You are seriously concerned for their well-being and want to make sure that they know what to expect that day so that they don’t miss a minute of it! However, if you are single and they are single then you would OBVIOUSLY make sure that you were an astrological match before even considering going out for coffee with them!

4. You are CERTAIN that the person writing the horoscopes that you read daily MUST be your next door neighbor because they have such insight into your life! How else would they know that you need money now or are having a difficult time with something in your life?

Good Audio Is Essential for a Successful Video

Think about the last good movie you saw. I mean the really good one. Chances are that movie had a great soundtrack; that’s how those things works. A great soundtrack makes a good movie that much better. The same goes for your video. Your sound makes all the difference. That soundtrack is like a marketing campaign for the movie or video; it makes the viewer remember it.

The success of any video is dependent upon its sound quality. You may have never realized this before, but take a moment to think about it. The ultimate goal of any video marketing campaign is to promote its subject so well that it increases sales, recognition, and eventually brand value. A lot of effort goes into the directing and presentation; and this includes the sound.

This is especially true of videos used for online advertising. Those videos are usually short and must grab the viewer’s attention immediately; before they click away to the next screen. Dialogue can help grab a viewer’s attention, assuming that the language is right for the viewer, but music can often do the job all on its own, especially if it is done right.

Good audio plays a very important role in whether a video marketing campaign is successful or not. Thus, any little imperfection in the sound can ruin the whole thing. Corporate or training videos use both audio and visual strategies. They should match perfectly; they should be well synchronized with no hiccups. A great jingle can make all the difference.

It is essential to team with a professional production company to create videos of superior quality. Professional videos can have a profound impact on your audience. The sound or audio aspect of a video really should be handled by experienced professionals with the right skill set.

Many people do go ahead and create their own videos and publish them on various websites. Then they suffer the consequences which include bad reviews, negative publicity and even ridicule. Viewers are not patient or even tolerant; they do not want to waste their time watching poor quality videos and they will let everyone know. Save yourself the pain and hire a respected production company. It will be well worth your money.
