Vocal Recording Techniques

Use the following techniques when recording vocals in your home studio.

Invest in good microphone:

In the long run, it will be worth it to invest a little money into a nice condenser microphone. There is no better way to capture clear, high quality vocals than using a high quality microphone! Generally, the cost of a good microphone starts at around $90 and goes up.

Pop Filter:

Having a pop filter is very important when capturing a great vocal performance. A pop filter is basically a screen that filters out all of the heavy “P”, “H”, and breathing sounds that otherwise distort the recording. Pop filters are pretty cheap. You can get a decent one for around $20. If you don’t have the money or time to get a pop filter before your next recording, you can make a homemade pop filter. Simply wear a handkerchief that covers your mouth. You don’t want it so thick and tight that it muffles your voice and effects how you talk, but just enough so it catches those unwanted pops and cracks.

Find Your Distance:

Every microphone is different. To get the best recording out of your microphone, be sure to play around and test it out for awhile before committing to a final recording. Some microphones are very sensitive whereas others require you to be very close to the mic. Find a comfortable distance from your microphone that gives a good volume level of recording, clear vocals, and no pops or distortion. Use this distance as your marking point every time you record so all of your tracks will have equal vocal quality!

Location:

When recording, you don’t want to be in a huge room or a room with background noise. When recording at home, or just not in a studio, the most commonly used type of room to record in is a smaller, quiet, and closed room. This assures that there is no background noise or extra feedback from the surroundings.

The Features That I Liked About The Flip Camcorder

The Flip camcorder model called the Flip Mino HD video camera isn’t anything I expected it to be. As a matter of fact a friend of mine gave it to me for a random reason. He said its great in video recording but I really can’t tell by the way he glanced at me. I’m really not into video recording, I am more into photography. But on one of my travels, this time to Beijing, I decided to take some footage using the Flip camcorder he gave me.

Surprisingly it wasn’t what I expected from the Flip Mino HD video camera- in fact it was way beyond my expectations. Below are the things that I found great about this camcorder:

The Size

The first impression I had in mind is that this video camera is nothing but a fancy gadget, one of those disposable ones you buy in the market. But regardless of that it was light, handy and very small (smaller than my coke in can) and for the size it’s really great.

The accessibility

I do bring my laptop with me anywhere I go since I do take a lot of photos and save it to my PC. The cool part of the Flip camcorder is that it needs no fancy cables for charging and you need not any memory to save it because I can easily hook it up with my laptop and transfer files.

The Features and Tripod features

It was only later that I learned that the Flip Mino HD video camera can be placed on a tripod. I did read a couple of reviews about of it online but sadly I was back from my Beijing trip by the time I knew about it.

The navigation was easy to use. You can see all of the tools in one area only. There is a red button in the center for recording, a pause button in the upper left side and delete button on the upper right side, it also have a fast forward and rewind button situated right above and below the red button.

Overall Verdict

To me it’s quite slick and a no brainer for me. Although I would love some added features with the Flip camcorder, but for what it has to offer I rate it 5 stars. I just had my Ultra version of this and it just doubled my expectations. Great Flips!

Decoding Destiny – The Deciphering Power of Numerology

A code is a system of structural communication. The Genetic code houses DNA secrets of life. The Periodic Table houses the codes of all known 118 chemical elements and their atomic structures. Morse code transmits textual information through a series of dots and dashes expressed by either sound, light, taps or clicks. There is the Universal Product Code, a system of bar codes designating product prices and features. Vehicle parts have codes, cities have building codes and so forth. But what about destiny? Does it house a secret structure of communication, a Code of Destiny? If so, can that code be broken? The answer is, yes.

To decode something is to extract its meaning. Our destinies have a definite code, and the secret to breaking that code is to understand the components of our full birth name and birth date, the letters and numbers creating them, as well as their varying combinations.

Our destinies are complex, containing multiple layers of energy, much like the layers of an onion. No one number or destiny component can define who or what we are, and what we are is basically an interwoven tapestry of collective and varying energies. Some energies in our destiny tapestry harmonize and blend, some energies are antagonistic and clash, just as some colors blend well together and others do not, or as some musical notes blend while others clash. The issue of importance is that each of our destinies is individual and unique to us. No two people are the same; no two destines are the same. In this we are each very special.

Major components of the Code of Destiny are:

1. The letters of our full birth name

2. Our full name as a whole

3. The single names comprising our full birth name

4. The vowels of our birth name

5. The consonants of our birth name

6. Our birth date as a whole

7. The separate numbers of our day, month and year of birth

8. The combination of our name plus our birth date

9. Combinations of the natal (birth) data by addition

10. Combinations of the natal (birth) data by subtraction

11. Our age

12. Our age in months only

13. Our natal calendar year

14. Linkage

15. Stacking

16. Master numbers

Good Audio Is Essential for a Successful Video

Think about the last good movie you saw. I mean the really good one. Chances are that movie had a great soundtrack; that’s how those things works. A great soundtrack makes a good movie that much better. The same goes for your video. Your sound makes all the difference. That soundtrack is like a marketing campaign for the movie or video; it makes the viewer remember it.

The success of any video is dependent upon its sound quality. You may have never realized this before, but take a moment to think about it. The ultimate goal of any video marketing campaign is to promote its subject so well that it increases sales, recognition, and eventually brand value. A lot of effort goes into the directing and presentation; and this includes the sound.

This is especially true of videos used for online advertising. Those videos are usually short and must grab the viewer’s attention immediately; before they click away to the next screen. Dialogue can help grab a viewer’s attention, assuming that the language is right for the viewer, but music can often do the job all on its own, especially if it is done right.

Good audio plays a very important role in whether a video marketing campaign is successful or not. Thus, any little imperfection in the sound can ruin the whole thing. Corporate or training videos use both audio and visual strategies. They should match perfectly; they should be well synchronized with no hiccups. A great jingle can make all the difference.

It is essential to team with a professional production company to create videos of superior quality. Professional videos can have a profound impact on your audience. The sound or audio aspect of a video really should be handled by experienced professionals with the right skill set.

Many people do go ahead and create their own videos and publish them on various websites. Then they suffer the consequences which include bad reviews, negative publicity and even ridicule. Viewers are not patient or even tolerant; they do not want to waste their time watching poor quality videos and they will let everyone know. Save yourself the pain and hire a respected production company. It will be well worth your money.

Checkmate – Chapter XII

Martin Graham scrutinized the case history files for Albert Morton, forwarded by the Federal Corrections Department. Finding no evidence that would allow a Judge to sign an order detaining him in the country. The file also provided the trial details of Morton’s conviction; still, giving him no leads as to why Kayn was displaying such irrational behavior on this man.

He sent Kayn another confirmation that there were no circumstances that would allow his office to apply for a restraining order. His desktop curser was flashing with a high priority communication from NATO going to all Federal Security Agencies reporting that Chanarong Montri and Kim Chan So were believed to be in Naples, Italy. It further reported that security informants confirmed that AOC agents were enroute to Naples.

As Martin scanned the communication logs and it became obvious, over and above the security agents already in Naples for the Economic Conference, there was about to be an aerial tsunami of international enormity descending onto the tarmac at the Aeroporto di Napoli. He picked up his travelling bag and left for the departure gate at the International Airport, enroute to Naples.

Travelling 37,000 feet over the north Atlantic ocean Albert was busy reviewing the Italian chronicles as Robert rested in the adjacent seat. He had spoken with Harry earlier in the day and learnt about the confrontation that had taken place with Kayn; he had not yet relayed this information to Robert.
Alyssa would be so full of pride knowing the genuine man Robert was developing into.

Albert closed his diary after documenting and planning his tours of southern Italy on this trip; perhaps in his exuberance he had indeed overextended his destinations. He slipped it into his attaché and removed a small bundle of letters that he kept close to him; letters from past colleagues at the University, all encouraging his return to the classroom; letters from Gordon at Fraser Lake, as always supporting him in his new ventures and old letters from Alyssa, received while at Fraser Lake. He read line by line and finally, comforted by kind thoughts and words, sleep came to him.

He woke feeling the heat of the sun streaming through the windows of the cabin. David had risen earlier and was working from the turn down table at his chair.

“Good Morning David, did you sleep well?”
